Karoliinan ja Renin häät 16.6.2001

The church of Pihlava (Pihlava is a part of the town of the Pori). This was the church where we had our wedding. It is quite small and it does not have many decorations but it is still a very nice church.

Karoliina and her father coming to the altar. I was there in front waiting and you might just imagine how nervouse I was. It was a loooong wait, but worth of it :-)

Here you can see nervous me in front.

Here we are. Karo's father escorted her to the front where he handed her over to me.

Samuli (my little brother and best-man) did not loose the ring. Good. So we had the ring to put on to the finger. The hardest part is now over (except for the kiss :-) After this we listened a beautiful song called "sunset and sunrise". It was sung by a friend and his friend who is an opera singer. A great voice indeed.

And we are done. That was not so terrifying, as it? Well, of course it was :-) but we made it. Ta-daa.

Here we are coming out from the church. I am afraid the people have something in their hand. And they sure are going to throw it over us...

...indeed they had. I was right. Here we are running and people are throwing oat (which is symbol of fertility, like rice).

"Run forrest, run"

At last. We are safe. There were a car waiting for us, which gave as the ride to the actual wedding house.

The car from font...

... the car from side ...

... and the car from back.

This is the wedding house. The day was really beautiful. It was first really warm day in this summer (really warn in Finland is +25 degrees or more, not like +35 :-)

And there we finally met all the relatives and friends.

The speech. First speech was given by Karo's father, then me and then my big sister Susanna. My father did not give a speech but instead he sang a song.

I am happy man :-)

We also had little competitions. In this picture you can see my mother Eeva, me, my little sister Mari, my big sister Susanna and brother Samuli.

Then we took coffee break. Here we are cutting the wedding cake.

And then the wedding walz. This was most difficult part since Karoliina's dress was quite wide and I had to be careful not to step on it.

Then all the people joined us. The dance floor was quite small so there were some "traffic jam" in there.

My uncle Timo. HE was the seremony master in the wedding. He always started announcing every happening eith a blow into a referees whistle. Fun.

My friend Jani (from Lappeenranta). An important festivals need also some cognag and cigar. That's a real Havana cigar he has.

During the evening we had many different happenings in there. HEre are all the ladies who decided to give us a song. It's title was "Give me a sky full of stars". They did it spontaneously and it was really fun. We also had other happenings during the wedding, like some poetry (fun ones), singing (my father and two friends), dancing, throwing the bridal bouquet and garter, etc.

Here Karoliina is throwing the bridal bouquet. It was catched by the second oldest lady in party. (A lady who hasn't ever been married). Right after that she went to priest and told him: "Ok, now I got this bouquet and it means I am the next one to be married. So how about it..." (She was teasing the priest :-)

And here is Ari. The lucky winner of the garter.
